Racing Racecards - All Meetings Tuesday 23rd Apr
This is the FlatStats Racecard page for Tuesday 23rd Apr 2024.
This page shows the racecards for all flat turf and all weather races for today. You can view runners and riders, jockey weights, penalties, apprentice allowances, the draw and the breeding of the horse. The racecards also show the unique FlatStats Horse Racing Ratings which can help identify which horses to back and lay.
FlatStats Racecards Help
Basics
The FlatStats racecards shows basic racecard info for all flat turf and all weather races.
Choose a day and either click on a meeting name to view all the races for that meeting on this page, or click on a race time to view just the one race.
The cards show the horse, trainer, jockey, as well as the owner and sire of the horse. You can view extra information such as the number of times a horse has won over course and distance, if the horse is wearing any kind of head gear (blinkers, cheekpieces, tongue strap etc.) and what their record is with or without head gear.
The cards show Betfair win and place prices. This information is updated ever half hour over night, every 10 minutes during the morning of racing, and around every minute whilst racing is taking place.
Finally, the racecards contain the unique FlatStats Horse Racing Ratings. These ratings are based on value statistics and can be used to find value bets.
Stats
You can click on any name on the racecard and view their stats. If you click on the horse name you can see the 'profile' stats for the horse, if you click on the sire you can see the stats for all of the sires offspring. Click on the trainer and you can see detailed stats for the trainer such as his or her overall record, stats from the past 28 days, stats at each course, stats for different types of race and much more.
Extra Info
At the top of the racecard you can find more information specific to the race.
The Favs record shows the stats for similar races to this one (this is much better than the 10 Year Stats / Fate of the Fav type information which is displayed in newspapers.
The Draw index shows if a particular draw range offers good or bad value. Any draw index 30 or more is coloured blue and indicates that the draw range offers value, whilst a figure of -30 or lower is red and indicates poor value. The draw ranges are split into thirds such that in a 12 runner race low = stalls 1 to 4, mid = stalls 5 to 8 and high = stalls 9 to 12. There is no draw index displayed for races of less than 10 declared runners as usually draw biases are not significant in small fields.
The racecard also shows Extra links which you can click for more information. The Stats Grid is a useful tool for seeing all the most significant stats for a sire, trainer, jockey or horse in a table. You can configure and sort this table or export it to your own database or spreadsheet.
The Race Stats link opens up a page showing stats for this type of race. You can see how well specific age groups performed in races similar to this, or the record of jockeys or trainers etc.
The Extra link has tables showing information on trainer and jockey combinations, horse earnings, jockey changes (where a different jockey is riding a horse compared to last time out) and trainer changes (where a horse has moved to a new yard since last time out).
The Ratings link shows ratings and 'raw scores' for each runner in a table.
The Trainer Form link shows a table displaying very useful information about each trainer in the race. You can instantly see hot or cold trainers, and trainers who are either warming up or cooling down! The FlatStats Trainer Form Index is a figure which is calculated from the trainers previous results and is used to indicate if a trainer is currently in form or not.

Pittsburgh PhilWed 17th Dec 2014
Hello Kevin,
If you mean the ratings comments you will find these on the ratings page:
FlatStats Horse Racing Ratings
Note that comments can be turned on or off via the blue options box at the top of the ratings page.
MikeyTue 16th Jun 2015
What is the number directly following the horses name on the racecards?
Sometimes it's in a bold red font sometimes it isn't.
Pittsburgh PhilTue 16th Jun 2015
Mikey,
This is the number of days since the horse last ran.
If the figure is red then this indicates the horse last ran overseas or in a jumps race.
Other figures after the horses' name include
C, D, CD figures indicating if and how many times the horse has won over the course, the distance or the course and distance
Penalty. This is displayed as 6x or 12x depending on the penalty applied.

1 Is the purple 'P' for Pareto?
2 When I try to load the grid on a previous days race I get an error message - is this a bug?
Pittsburgh PhilSat 28th Nov 2015
Les,
Yes the purple P indicates Pareto status (means that the trainer or jockey is part of the 20% group that wins 80% of all races).
As for the grid this is overwritten each day as it is only relevant for a particular days racing.
If you wish to view previous days Grid Data you can do so via our CSV Downloads page.
The Stats Grid Download (7 days) has the information for the past week,
Lee HaywardWed 2nd Mar 2016
What do the different grouped columns of statistics represent in the 'grid' data for Horse, Sire, Trainer & Jockey. The data reads Wins, Runs, Win%, Plc%, A/E and ROI% and these columns are repeated several times. I'm assuming various combinations of Course, Distance, Surface etc... but I can't seem to correlate these against the horse form.
Pittsburgh PhilWed 2nd Mar 2016
Lee,
This would depend on which tab is selected.
At the top left of the grid you can select Horse - Sire - Trainer - Jockey. Clicking one of those tabs will then show the stats for those names on the racecard.
The columns for Wins, Runs ... are split into categories such as Course, Going, Class, Distance etc.
LeeThu 3rd Mar 2016
Thanks Phil,
Are there different categories for the different tabs or are they consistent for the entire range of Horse, Sire, Trainer etc...
If they're consistent can you point out what they are in order as the columns are not labelled, so at present they are just a number of stats without any reference,
Many Thanks,
Lee
Pittsburgh PhilThu 3rd Mar 2016
Lee,
You can configure the columns via your settings panel
Subscriber Settings
Click the panel for Grid Table Settings and choose categories, headings and CSV options.
Note that if you can not view the headings onscreen then try the CSV download facility. This allows you to open up the grid in a spreadsheet for further analysis or for updating your own database. The CSV file has header information so that you can easily identify each stat.
We also have comprehensive information about out CSV files and their structure in the Geek Section of the forum.

On the racecards page (extra) when sire stats listed can we have a stat for best distance a sires progengy perform?
thanks
Pittsburgh PhilWed 12th Apr 2017
David,
The cards will be revamped soon, with new tables and features added.
For now the best advice is to click on each sires name on the racecard to open up their stats page. This will then show various pages including their distance range stats.
You will see a table showing the sire's progeny record over 5f, 6f, 7f ... 22f as well their ranges: sprints, middle, long. So it will be quick and easy to see the best distance and / or distance range for each sire.

what a brilliant site this is, it would have been great if you covered jump racing as well, i wonder if there ia an equivilant?
My question- what are the abbreviations WCMI and HHI at the bottom of the ratings cards and what are their relevance? thanks.
Pittsburgh PhilMon 14th Sep 2020
Dave,
Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately we have no plans to cover jump racing.
WCMI and HHI are market indicators which can help determine if punters are focusing on one key horse or if the market can not make up it's mind as to the finishing positions.
e.g. If the WCMI or HHI are high, then it's very likely the odds are spread out with a short favourite, a few spaced out in the middle and a few long prices. Low figures would indicate that the market is cramped with say 3/1 co favs and only a few big prices.
Try the search feature at the top of the page. Search for WCMI and you should see a link to the dedicated WCMI page, and forum topics discussing WCMI and HHI.
